Moving a site from a testing environment to a production environment

Hi, I would to know what steps I should follow to move a whole web site
from a testing environment to a production environment.

I mean If I should create a new databse or I can import the existing one.
And what other files should I set.

Thanks
Juan Esteban

Hi Juan,
Do you have cpanel installed on your host? If so, then moving your site from a dev environment to live is pretty easy.. wink
Cheers
Chris

Re: Moving a site from a testing environment to a production environment

Hi,

I have the same question and also would like to get some tips on moving my testing joomla site from local to my webserver.

I also figure it would be more than moving the directories and files.

Any directions, tips or instructions available?

cheers!

Re: Moving a site from a testing environment to a production environment

Thanks for responding, but I don't use my cpanel for moving the offline installation of my joomla develop site. I like to know what files and more specificly what files NOT to upload to get the online joomla in sync with my offline, local version.

I exported the database and with phpmyadmin I put it back, I moved some directories in place, but still not the same result as on my local server. I missed out some files or uploaded too much i guess.

I cant give more info I guess :-)
